Amy Henley

Teacher of Excellence

Born and raised in Missouri, U.S., Mrs. Amy Henley has been dedicated to ESL teaching for over two decades. With a background in German language studies, she lived and worked in Germany for 10 years. As Amy was working closely with both local and expat communities there, it ignited heer passion and enthusiasm in adult education with a focus on ESL.

Even after teaching for many years, Amy still gets butterflies before starting with a new client. She put it perfectly that her own experiences with learning a foreign language and living abroad help her focus and prepare well for the new lessons.

Live everyone else who has itchy feet, Amy's love for traveling was put on hold due to COVID. One of the unique benefits of teaching languages in a tough year like this one is that the world can come to her instead! It allows her to continue exploring other cultures and learn about the wonders of the world through her clients' eyes.

Since joining Global LT's teacher network in 2018, Amy's professionalism not only shines through her high 97% (5 out of 5) client's ratings, but is also reflected through other deeds she often does without claiming any credit. For example, she volunteered to babysit and take care of the young daughter of an expat client whose husband was badly injured in a car accident not long after moving to the U.S. She even thoughtfully asked GLT not to bill the clients for the hours she spent with them as she felt the client's learning budget needed to be reserved for helping them get back on their feet.

Because of her positive attitude towards life, Amy is pleasant to learn from and to work with. Her warm smile and listening ear speaks volumes. She goes above and beyond for each person she works with, and she cherishes the friendships she establishes with the clients even after the contracts end.

When asked what she'd like to share with fellow GLT teachers, Amy mentioned it really takes collaborative efforts between the teacher and the client to achieve the best learning environment and results. She has found that paying attention to the individual's personal learning style and combining that with a holistic approach to language learning almost always ensures a positive outcome; an outcome that is both rewarding and confidence-boosting for clients.

In her spare time, Amy enjoys reading, watching movies, and practicing calligraphy. Thank you, Amy, for the exceptional work you've done! We are so lucky to work with you and to call you one of our dear Global LT teachers.
